View of The Nunnery

The creation of this masterpiece required workmanship of incredible precision. The framework of design is typically Mayan in the Rio Bec style which drives its name from the vicinity of the Bec River near Peten. Looking through the entrance facade opening, the Temple of Venus is situated at the foot of the large stairway that leads to the northern edifice. Here the evolution from stucco decorations to stone decorations appears to have taken place.
